Following the inaugural Wines of Great Britain (WineGB) event at the Royal Horticultural Halls, organisers celebrated an over 60 per cent increase in exhibitors and record visitor numbers.
The event, which took place in Lindley Hall, included several seminars covering subjects such as the latest economic report for the UK wine industry, wine tourism and a discussion about the commercial opportunities for English and Welsh wines.
Julia Trustram Eve, marketing director of WineGB said: “The Lindley Hall is a wonderful, quintessential British institution and the perfect new home for us. Our annual trade tasting is a hugely important showcase for our industry and in moving to Lindley Hall we could welcome so many more producers and visitors. We’ve made a confident statement about our growing industry and its award-winning wines.”
Lorraine Thorne, venue sales manager at the Royal Horticultural Halls added: “The Halls have long had a tradition of hosting wine events. The first was The Festival of Wine in 1951 just after the closing of the Festival of Britain. Since then we now host 14 wine events each year. Organisers like the light and tranquillity of the space so that the wines can do the talking.”
