The organiser of the 30th World Travel Market, Reed Exhibitions, says it has succeeded in substantially raising the quality of business visitors despite seeing an eight per cent decrease year-on-year on overall visitors.
Unaudited figures show 46,000 visitors attended this year’s edition at Excel London, in November, with the those invited by exhibitors increasing to more than 8,000.
“Exhibitors want to meet and discuss with buyers that have verified and significant purchasing authority, so I am delighted we have achieved this important strategic objective,” says WTM’s exhibition director, Craig Moyes. “Delivering senior buyers to exhibitors to conduct business, identify new markets and network is what WTM is all about.”
Moyes points to the launch of WTM’s first speed networking session between exhibitors and senior industry buyers from the WTM Meridian Club for the increase in quality business visitors. “Early feedback about the extent of business conducted during the event has been extremely encouraging,” Moyes adds.
The number of ministers and aides attending the UNWTO Ministers’ Summit, held during the World Travel Market, increased by 18 per cent to 147.
