Entertainment technology tradeshow organiser Plasa has announced dates for its 2011 London show and flagged stronger international links following a merger with trade body, Entertainment Services Technology Association (ESTA).
The Plasa exhibition is organised by a subsidiary of the Professional Lighting and Sound Association (Plasa) and will be held at Earls Court from 11 to 14 September. The organiser is offering free visitor registration up to 5 February.
“Last year the free registration offer attracted thousands of early registrations and the visitor number itself increased,” Plasa events manager Sophie Atkinson said.
New initiatives for 2011 will be announced in coming months but include an expanded education programme and new product innovations. The 2010 event attracted 12,078 visitors (ABC audited) and just over 300 exhibitors. Plasa ran its first technical and business conference alongside the exhibition in 2010.
Its sister event Plasa Focus: Leeds 2011 takes place from 19 to 20 April at the Royal Armouries and will feature 130 exhibitors.
“With Plasa Focus: Leeds 2011 also nearly sold out and a 30 per cent increase in visitor numbers in 2010, we feel confident that Plasa Events is delivering important new business opportunities for our members and exhibitors,” Atkinson added.
Internationally, Plasa announced a merger with US-based association ESTA on 7 January. Atkinson said the association held strong links with the US and maintained an ESTA Pavilion and Lounge at the Plasa Show dedicated to American companies.
“The merger between industry trade bodies ESTA and Plasa has created one of the largest networks serving the industry worldwide and will help us, as events organisers, to continue to develop our strong international exhibitor and visitor base,” she told EN. “We’re confident the Plasa team, working in partnership with the members, can make the most of this unique opportunity.”
