Pharmacy Show claims 6% visitor rise at the NEC

by EN

CloserStill Media’s annual Pharmacy Show attracted 7,247 healthcare professionals to the NEC on 5-6 October.

The figure represents a six per cent rise on the previous year, up from 6,800 at the Pharmacy Show in 2013.

The exhibition featured 64 education sessions across five conference streams alongside more than 400 exhibitors who demonstrated their products and services to support community pharmacies.

The organiser described the Pharmacy Show as the best yet.

“With its packed schedule of conferences and education, the latest in technology and innovation from pharmacy’s leading suppliers and business partners, and all the innovations for this year, the Pharmacy Show has yet again become the must-attend event in the pharmacy calendar,” said show director Matthew Butler.

“We are delighted to continue to play our part as hosts to the conversations that matter in pharmacy and as we prepare for the 2015 Pharmacy Show, we are looking forward to maintaining our support for the profession of pharmacy as it gears up to take advantage of this new era in NHS primary care.”

New to this year’s show was a public health and wellbeing forum, where leading experts discussed issues such as the pharmacist’s role in preventing skin cancer to new advances in point of care diagnostics.

The second innovation for 2014, said CloserStill was the Local Pharmacy Innovation Theatre, a forum in which Local Pharmacy Committee (LPCs) and Local Pharmacy Network (LPNs) members were able to share successful innovation and best practice in services.

The organiser has confirmed the 2015 edition will return to the NEC on 18-19 October.
