Sky News has reported that UBM may consider moving back to the UK depending on changes Chancellor George Osborne reveals in today’s budget speech.
Sky blogger Mark Kleinman says Osborne may use the organiser as an example of a large company that left the UK for tax reasons and relocated financial operations to the Republic of Ireland.
“I’m told United Business Media, the owner of PR Newswire and major international conferences and exhibitions, is ‘seriously considering’ moving back to the UK if tomorrow’s Budget delivers the expected reforms to the regime dictating the taxation of companies’ overseas profits,” he wrote.
Osborne’s speech will begin today at 12:30pm.
According to Kleinman, UBM was not available for comment.
UBM launched a UK edition of its Responsible Partnerships Exhibition at the Business Design Centre in London this month.
