Broadway Events launched Childcare Expo Midlands in 2010, and it’s now being held in three locations. Following the inaugural event in Coventry, the event organiser took the exhibition to London in 2014, and last year to Manchester.
Speaking to EN, event director Emma Barrett said Childcare Expo was the first trade show to answer to the need of the sector. “CPD (continuous professional development) is crucial for the early years sector in order to stay up to date with the latest innovations and ideas for outstanding childcare. Word of mouth and continued satisfaction from both visitors and exhibitors have allowed this event to grow,” she explained.
Childcare Expo Midlands 2017 attracted 1,478 visitors, a 4% increase from last year. The event also saw a 7% increase in exhibitors.
Barrett told EN that the event’s success is partly due to the engaging experiences it provides to visitors along with the exhibitors who attend.
Twinkl, a popular teaching resource company, hosted its Twinkl Inspirational Zone for the second year in a row, following the success of the launch last year at the event in Coventry. The organiser reported that a host of visitors came purely to interact with the staff and to get hands-on with the craft sessions available across the two days.
“Childcare Expo Coventry was our first Childcare Expo exhibition, and we were extremely pleased with the outcome,” commented Laura Carr, marketing manager at Octopus Journals, a first time exhibitor, which has already booked for Childcare Expo London next year.
Carr added: “The audience at these events is fantastic, market specific and has generated a number of positive business leads. We are sure that with the help of Childcare Expo, we are going to take the early years sector by storm.”
Broadway Event is considering adding events to its portfolio with new locations, however, Barrett said new launches will depend on market needs and the number of nurseries and schools in a suitable area.
In the meantime, the company is moving forward with its expansion plan in the conference market. In 2011, Broadway Events launched Care Roadshows, a series of seminars and workshops. The project has turned into an event series hosted in Glasgow, Liverpool, Birmingham, Cardiff, and London.
The Future of Care Conference is the organiser’s latest offering. The new launch is a one-day event scheduled to run on 13 March 2018 at No. 11 Cavendish Square, London.
