The Octanorm UK trading licence will transfer to a new company following the retirement of Richard Armitage, chairman of current licence owner RT Display Systems.
Octanorm UK, which trades under licence from Octanorm Germany, has manufactured and distributed aluminium profiles and systems for the exhibition, retail and display industries for 40 years.
From 1 March, the licence for Octanorm UK will belong to RTD Systems, which is owned by Alan Sheridan, the current managing director of RT Display Systems.
He tells EN that owning and managing the business will give him the “ability to develop the business without being accountable to the owner and their wishes over the development and direction of the company. In short, I don’t have to refer key or fundamental decisions demanded by the market and its customers”.
Some employees of RT Display Systems, which will cease trading after March 1, have opted to take redundancy.
Richard Armitage, pictured, who retires after more than 40 years in the exhibition and display industry, says: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my working life. I passionately believe in the exhibition industry and the face to face business opportunities it creates, I am looking forward to relaxing and enjoying more leisure time starting with visiting more exhibitions in 2010!”
Octanorm UK sales manager Michael Steward is also retiring, after almost 21 years at the company.
The contact details and trading address for Octanorm UK will remain the same.
