Visit London has announced Iain Edmondson as the new head of its Events for London (EoL) division.
Edmondson has over 18 years’ experience within the major events and sports sector, and is tasked with attracting and staging major sporting and cultural events in the capital.
“It’s a great time to be leading the EoL team,” says Edmondson. “More than ever, the eyes of the world are on London. The city has the talent and creativity to establish itself as the home of inspiring and sustainable major events.”
With two years of service with EoL already under his belt, Edmondson believes his team is right at the heart of winning new events, and has already helped win the 2011 World Badminton Championships.
“We want to develop new events such as the annual London Restaurant Festival, host more high-profile international sports like the NFL, and showcase the best of the Olympic legacy aspirations through hosting the international SportAccord Convention next year,” he adds.
