Farnborough confirms main contractors for new hall

by Nicola Macdonald

Ahead of its opening in Spring 2018, Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre’s new Hall 1 has confirmed that it has finalised agreements for its four main contractors and that it is full steam ahead for 2018 event bookings.

The four contractors are; Sodexo Prestige Events and Venues – caterers and service management services, DB Systems – responsible for the technological servicing and site networks, GES – events service partner, and CBRE – which will look after the site’s facilities.

Neil Theuma, operations director at Farnborough International, commented: “With the opening of Hall 1 fast approaching it’s very exciting to be able to announce the final line-up of our site contractors, who will work closely with our team to complete the venue.”

Sodexo Prestige Events and Venues has signed a 10-year contract with Farnborough International worth £30m. With the recent appointment of new head chef, Andy Ives, the team is set to deliver conference, banqueting and events services, in addition to retail services tailored to each event.

GES is also contracted to support Farnborough International until 2028. The company will deliver a full suite of strategic event services and AV support to Farnborough International’s exhibitions and conferences in the new Hall 1, as well as continue to assist with the planning and running of the airshow across the entire site.

DB Systems is developing a technological network at Farnborough which will be able to provide fast download times for up to 10,000 delegates at a single event.

Finally, CBRE will provide the facilities management of the expansive space, which includes 91 toilets and 3,500 free parking spaces.
