The NEC has launched three products for organisers of conferences and live events at Confex.
The Birmingham venue is offering eight per cent commission on pre-ordered food and beverage, and hall rental for venue finders, professional conference organisers and event production companies bringing their events to the venue between 1 April 2012 and 31 March 2013.
It also launches its new live event product Black Box, developed to make it easier for clients who have outgrown their conference facilities to move into one of the NEC’s 20 interconnecting halls to host their conference or product launch.
The product serves to create event infrastructure, power, drapes, carpeting, furniture, cleaning, security, AV, staging and other conference facilities, plus extra solutions on top of the standard package, such as catering.
“This new solution means clients don’t have to worry about sourcing all of these things separately and know the costs up front,” said Live Events account manager Jenny Lightfoot. “It will deliver great benefits to our clients, especially those that have outgrown our existing conference facilities and would welcome additional support to move their event into the halls.”
The NEC’s new Day Delegate Rate (DDR), aimed at conference organisers, offers preferential room hire rates from 8am until 6pm. The venue has 33 conference and meeting rooms, and in 2011 hosted 354 conferences and meetings.
“We are launching our DDR to create a value offering that will help organisers,” said NEC conference account manager Louise Hankinson. “We are well aware of the tough economy and therefore wanted to create a product in line with today’s market.”
The NEC has refitted its Skywalk with LED lighting in order “to improve its visitor experience” while saving energy and lowering carbon emissions.
