Melville GES has appointed the managing director of events and exhibition logistics specialist CEVA Showfreight as its head of logistics for Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Phil Powell (pictured), who officially takes the role in February 2013, established CEVA Showfreight in 1993 after working his way through the ranks of dedicated event logistics companies.
In his new role, Powell will be responsible for driving Melville GES’s international freight business, as well as taking responsibility for its logistics operations in Germany. His international credentials include a spell as chairman of global exhibition logistics association IELA.
“This really is a perfect fit between Phil and Melville – for Phil at the perfect time in his career and for Melville GES, at the perfect time to accelerate the growth of our logistics business,” Melville GES CEO Nick Marshall said. “We’re all tremendously excited by the possibilities ahead.”
Matthew Williams, the head of Melville GES’s logistics business in the UK, will continue in his role, reporting to Powell.
“Matthew and his team have already developed a very successful logistics division within Melville GES, and we all recognise that the time is right to expand the international footprint of the business – Phil is ideally experienced to do this,” commented Marshall.
CEVA Showfreight has appointed Sharon Robinson as acting MD.
Meville GES won the award for sustainability at Mash Media’s Exhibition News Awards in March this year, while CEVA Showfreight won Best Supplier to Exhibitors.
