MCM Manchester Comic Con at Manchester Central drew to a close on 30 July. The organiser said 36,567 sci-fi fans, gamers, comic collectors, movie buffs and anime enthusiasts attended the two-day show.
“Manchester Central was bursting with incredible cosplayers, dedicated gamers, passionate comic readers, excited movie buffs and just about every pop-culture niche represented,” said weekend of superheroes, celebrities, comics, families and all manners of pop culture fandom,” said Danny Aindow, national event manager of MCM Expo Group.
The theatre panels were packed over the weekend, with visitors hearing from the likes of Sunday Times best-selling author Simon Scarrow and his former student-turned-writing partner, Lee Francis, as they discussed what makes a best seller, and Alan Partridge fan podcast Monkey Tennis, which recorded new episode at the show, filled with japes, jokes, behind the scenes facts and trivia of the legendary Mancunian.
Aindow added: “The turnout at the weekend demonstrated the desire for a place to celebrate our love for all things pop culture, and we’re already exciting about returning to Manchester in 2018.”
Next up in the event portfolio, MCM Expo will be returning to Glasgow with MCM Scotland Comic Con on 23-24 September at the SEC.
