Turkey will be the Market Focus partner of Reed Exhibitions’ London Book Fair in 2013.
The Market Focus programme will shine a spotlight on contemporary Turkish authors and Turkey as an important publishing arena. It will be supported by a series of public events across the UK featuring visiting Turkish authors curated by the British Council.
The programme aims to give UK and international publishers an opportunity to liaise with their foreign counterparts as well as forge and benefit from new partnerships.
“Market Focus is an ever more important part of The London Book Fair and we’re delighted that Turkey has been chosen for 2013,” said London Book Fair director Alistair Burtenshaw. “We look forward to working closely with the Turkish Ministry of Culture and our partners in the UK and Turkey to deliver an outstanding programme that will have a long-lasting impact for the industry as a whole.”
China is the Market Focus partner for the 2012 show, which runs from 16 to 18 April at Earls Court in London.
The 2011 edition of the London Book Fair reported a seven per cent increase in visitors compared to 2009. The 2010 show was affected by the Icelandic volcano disaster, which created dust plumes and grounded many flights across Europe.
