Global event services supplier GL Events has appointed Scott Hayward as MD of its three UK divisions.
Hayward is currently the MD of GL Events Slick Seating but will now also lead its sister companies, Owen Brown and Snowdens, after taking over from the firm’s outgoing MD Alex Robertson.
Hayward was previously the operations director for Owen Brown, which is based in Castle Donington, until he left to project manage the major event overlay for GL’s work at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand the following year.
In 2012 he took up the position of MD of Slick Seating, which is based in Redditch, West Midlands and was acquired by GL Events the previous year, a deal which saw the firm strengthen its services.
He oversaw the company’s delivery and installation of around 130,000 tiered seats at 14 venues at last year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Hayward’s new role reflects the firms’ increasingly close working relationship, not least at London 2012 where Owen Brown and Snowdens supplied around 166,000sqm of temporary structures as part of the GL Events consortium.
“I am very pleased to announce Scott’s appointment as managing director of our three UK divisions,” said Olivier Hohn, MD of GL events Structures and Grandstands Division. “His role will see him sharing his time across the businesses in order to develop our market share and improve and maximise the operational efficiencies and synergies between Slick Seating, Owen Brown and Snowdens.”
