Julie Benson, organiser of The Great Exhibition 2012, has confirmed the event will take place over two weeks in August at Stoneleigh Park, Warwick.
The culmination of a year-long online campaign to promote all that is great about Britain, the exhibition will feature three main sections: The Footprint of Britain, The High Street of the Future and The Great Outdoors.
To mark one year until the show opens, Benson has embarked on a two-week road trip of the UK with four young roving reporters to find the people, places and products that “make up the greats of Great Britain”.
The exhibition launch briefly came into doubt earlier this summer when Olympic organising committee LOCOG threatened legal action against Benson for the use of 2012 in the exhibition’s name. LOCOG later retracted the complaint.
Originally planned to run for 90 days, the Great Exhibition 2012 was inspired in part by The Great Exhibition 1851 and the Festival of Britain in 1951.
