The International Convention Centre (ICC) Birmingham’s General Manager Geoff Fenlon has left his post to become the Principle and Chief Executive of a college.
Following four years at the ICC, Fenlon will take up his new post at Carnegie College in Fife, Scotland.
Speaking to EN in October 2010, Fenlon said “One of the greatest things about the events industry is the great sense of satisfaction when an event comes together.”
Fenlon spent 13 years as a Royal Navy Logistics Officer, during this time he held various appointments including lecturer at the Air Engineering School in Portsmouth. He served during the first Gulf War, where he was awarded the Joint Commander’s Special Commendation for his role as JHQ Naval Administrator. He led the merger of two national training bodies to form a new organisation People 1st’ and helped guide its successful bid to become the UK Sector Skills Council for Travel, Tourism, Leisure and Events. In 2006, he was a member of the Ministerial Working Group to develop ‘Scottish Tourism: The next Decade’
