Gadget Show Live has added 2,000 seats to its Super Theatre and capacity for 15,000 extra visitors to this year’s event.
Organiser Upper Street Events said tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday had already sold out, with total attendance expected to top 120,000. The consumer show is in its fourth edition and runs at The NEC in Birmingham from 11 to 15 April.
Last year’s Gadget Show Live attracted 104,758 visitors, up 50 per cent year-on-year, and 200 exhibitors.
This year’s Super Theatre will now be able to seat 6,000 people, up from 4,000, and will include one-hour long, live theatre versions of Channel 4’s Gadget Show TV programme three times daily. The show also has the Hub Theatre offering free presentations on technology trends and advancements.
Other fresh content this year includes a new Active Zone to showcase technology-based products for camping, cycling and other outdoor sports. Upper Street is also launching a Music Zone for manufacturers and retailers of DJ equipment and music technology.
“We’re really pleased about how the event has shaped up for 2012, with a bigger variety of features and some great exhibitors like Philips, Dell, Denon and Canon making their debuts this year,” Upper Street Events head of events Matt Hodgins said.
“Gadget Show Live has remained the place to get involved with the latest tech available in the UK. Having won Best Consumer Show at both the Exhibition News and Association of Exhibition Organisers Awards last year, 2012 promises to be the best yet and a hugely entertaining day out for all the family.”
In addition, Gadget Show Live 2012 will feature an extended International Future Tech Zone for new inventions and academic approaches to technology, a larger Game Zone displaying the latest computer games and consoles, and an extended Home Gadget Zone.
