Organiser QD Events has revealed plans for a new-look Fishing Expo in 2012 after postponing its 2011 edition.
In a bid to make the show more inclusive, next year’s edition will cover every sector of the fish industry “from sea to plate”, said QD MD Fran McIntyre.
Show manager David Moir outlined the plans for Fishing UK 2012, the show’s new name, at an industry reception at the Scotish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) on Friday 28 March.
“As well as fish catching, the show will include areas such as processing, logistics and business,” said Moir. “All these different sectors are inextricably linked and it makes sense to bring them together.”
A new advisory council of industry representatives will also be created to help shape the show format and content over the coming months.
“The point we want to emphasise is that the fishing expo has ownership of the expo and influence over its content,” continued Moir. “We believe the changes we are making will ensure that the event attracts continued and growing support from within the fishing industry.”
McIntyre added that QD is “keen to work with the organisers of other fishing exhibitions to ensure the calendar of fishing events meets the requirements of the industry.”
The 2011 Fishing Expo was due to take place at the SECC from 24 to 26 March but was postponed by the organiser.
