The Event Suppliers and Services Association (ESSA) held its latest AGM at the O2 in London on 3 April, with more notable firms backing its services.
ESSA currently has 200 members, with 16 members added in 2014. ESSA has a 90 per cent retention rate, which has risen to 95 per cent this year so far.
In 2013, around five per cent of ESSA members did not have their accreditation renewed after failing to meet association criteria.
The association now has eight organisers in its ‘Use an ESSA member campaign’: Nineteen events, DMG, Clarion, UBM, Reed, Mayridge, Centaur and FIVE.
Two ESSA members have made pledges to use fellow members wherever possible: GES and 4D, while four freelance ops companies: Ways and Means, Maelstrom, EventShare and EPM have also signed up.
In other news, Alex Robertson from JMT Indisplay was elected as a new board member, while Peter Allen from 4D, Peter Bowen from Access Displays, and Martin Cairns from Reeds Carpets were re-elected on to the board.
The association is also looking for discounts for Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme members and Construction Industry Training Board members.
“We are looking at ways to discount costs to our members outside of ESSA,” said ESSA deputy director Andrew Harrison. “Also we are actively seeking discounts to their insurance premiums if they have additional accreditations via our insurance partners.”
ESSA is taking its first steps towards big data with the formation of its Data/Registration working group.
