The first National UK Blog Awards (UKBA14) will be launched next year, with Exhibition News as an event sponsor.
“In a very short space of time, bloggers have become a real force to be reckoned with and are increasingly recognised as a source of inspiration for consumers and traditional media alike,” said UKBA14 founder Gemma Pears. “We feel the blogging world deserves this recognition.”
The organiser said the awards have been created so that bloggers and organisations can receive recognition for true viral style and creative excellence, across a variety of 12 UK industries:
- Arts and Culture
- Digital and Technology
- Food and Drink
- PR, Marketing, Media and Communications
- Retail & Fashion
There are also three further categories:
- Young Persons Blog Award (18-25 years of age)
- Most Innovative Blog
- Digital Shoreditch Dedicated Blog Award.
“We hope that this event not only raises the profile of the industry, but creates an unrivalled opportunity for bloggers to meet up and share knowledge,” added Pears.
Entry for the awards is open until 1 December, and the public will vote online from 2 December to 13 January. http://www.blogawardsuk.co.uk/
The judging panel featuring leading digital industry figure heads will choose the final shortlist from the most popular blogs following the public vote, and the winners will be announced at an awards dinner at a Central London venue on 25 April 2014.
