The 2018 Confex keynote sessions will be deliver by Musion™, a company delivering ultra-realistic 3D holographic projections. EN learns more.
Tell us a bit about Musion™
Musion™ is the global leader in the development, marketing, production and broadcasting of 3D holographic illusions, and is universally recognised as state-of-the-art. Protected worldwide by a portfolio of patents, the Musion™ technology uses the most advanced digital and cinematic technologies to create life-sized, ultra-realistic interactive 3D holographic video presentations and exhibits for a wide range of vertical markets, including entertainment, TelePresence, corporate, marketing and education.
Ian O’Connell, who co-founded Musion™ 14 years ago, is widely recognised as a pioneer of holographic image capture and display technology and has been pivotal to the company’s development ever since. Musion™ has delivered over 700 holographic installations for ‘blue chip’ customers worldwide include Universal, T-Mobile, Burberry, Orange, Samsung, Dunhill, Toyota, Audi, BMW and the BBC.
Among the many celebrities who have appeared live or pre-recorded Musion3D images are HRH Prince Charles, Sir Richard Branson, David Beckham, Madonna, the Black Eyed Peas, Sir Alex Ferguson, Lewis Hamilton, Sarah Brightman and Mariah Carey.
How does the technology work?
Musion™’s holographic projection system takes advantage of the most innovative 21st century audio-visual technologies, transforming the Victorian-age Pepper’s Ghost optical illusion into a state-of-the-art multimedia platform that enables pre-recorded or live 3D holographic projection.
The Musion™ projection system incorporates a ‘performer’s stage’ that is equipped with LED lighting and is usually boxed with hard panelling or dark draping along the sides and back of the system. A polymer screen sits on a 45-degree angle between the stage and the audience and at least one high powered, high definition video projector or alternatively a high-pitch LED screen generate ultra-clear 3D images.
The Musion™ Immersive Telepresence solution uses high-speed broadband networks such as satellite technology or 4G (soon to be 5G) to transport speakers or performers live to multiple locations where they can appear on stage in front of audiences giving the best characteristics of direct human interaction that result from face-to-face meetings.
How did you come to partner with Confex for 2018?
Mash Media approached Musion™ as the industry leader in holographic solutions. They were looking for a partner that can demonstrate tomorrow’s world of events and conferences. Musion felt that this partnership is the perfect platform to showcase our technology.
What can visitors to the show expect from your keynote sessions?
Musion are running a number of sessions throughout the keynote. These include:
- Conferences and education
During these sessions we will use examples of our previous work to demonstrate how our holographic technology can take an event or campaign to another level, engaging and exciting audiences who share and talk about the event many years later.
The highlight of the event will be the keynote address where we will use our telepresence solution to transport a famous speaker from a remote location onto the stage in front of the audience.
How do you see 3D holographic projection changing live events?
With the advent of 4G and 5G technology our live telepresence solution is now easily accessible to a wider market. In this busy world, event speakers, senior executives and celebrities do not always have the time to travel across the world to speak or perform. Our Immersive Telepresence solution makes this possible. We can transport the individual live to multiple locations across the world.
This not only makes them accessible to a wider audience but also reduces the carbon footprint. The days of boring video broadcast or even crackly satellite connections are over. The speaker can appear live any time, any place, anywhere.
