Media 10 is rebranding and expanding EcoVelocity to the Future Drive Motor Show to better reflect visitor demand for a high-tech vehicles event.
The Future Drive Motor Show will be held at Excel London from 5 to 12 May 2013 alongside Grand Designs Live London and will feature a range of new vehicles on display and available for test drives. Content will include an electric supercar paddock to garage of the future, a motorbike and scooter test drive area and a kiddies driving track.
Event organiser Giles Brown said the new branding was a response to visitor research which found test driving the latest high-tech vehicles was the most important reason to visit the motor show. Visitors also said they expected new cars to be more environmentally-friendly as standard.
“The automotive sector has developed some amazing and jaw-dropping technology the public would love to see and gadgets that ‘Q’ would have developed for James Bond are now a reality – cars that drive and park themselves, stop motorists having accidents, cars that run on electricity and even hydrogen as well as traditional looking but silent electric motorbikes,” Brown said.
“According to our research, visitors are looking for a show where they can see new vehicles, take a test drive, talk to the experts and arm themselves with knowledge that will help them in their buying decision process.”
Media 10 acquired a majority stake in the EcoVelocity show earlier this year following its launch at Battersea Park in September 2011.
The event reported a seven-fold visitor rise when co-located with Grand Designs Live last May, attracting nearly 58,000 visitors.
“As parent company of the new show and owners of multi-award winning shows including Grand Designs Live and the Ideal Home Show, we are investing heavily in Future Drive to ensure it establishes itself as the leading event for motorists,” Media 10 marketing director Rob Nathan added.
