DMG Events has restructured its digital marketing division and appointed a new head of EMEA to oversee its portfolio of events and fuel launch plans across the region.
James Drake-Brockman (pictured) was previously the director of business development in emerging markets for DMG Events’ digital marketing division.
He is now tasked with continuing the organiser’s work on international launches planned across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, while also running the company’s existing events portfolio. This encompasses 37 events across 12 countries including flagship brand, Ad:Tech.
Drake-Brockman indirectly replaces the former head of UK digital marketing division, Christophe Asselin, who leaves on 14 December after nearly seven years with DMG Events.
Drake-Brockman has 14 years experience in trade shows including six years as event director of Internet World in London to 2010. Other events on his resume include Windows Enterprise, Linux Expo, WebMaster and The Windows Show.
“Ad:Tech is an exceptionally strong event and I am excited to be running the UK event as well as being given the opportunity to take it to new markets throughout EMEA,” Drake-Brockman said. “I had the chance to launch an iMedia Summit while in Australia recently and its unique format creates a compelling proposition for attendees and sponsors alike.
“Together they are the perfect vehicles to serve the needs of the digital advertising and marketing community.”
DMG Events’ president for the digital marketing division Susan Macdermid said the team was looking forward to Drake-Brockman’s leadership in the UK as well as his help in expanding brands such as Ad:Tech into new markets.
“James is a rare find, combining deep market knowledge with years of event industry experience,” she said. “His work turning around Internet World and then launching an extremely successful iMedia Summit in Australia speaks for itself and we are extremely excited to have him on-board.
Asselin told EN he will be leaving in order to pursue other avenues.
“I’ve been with the Company since 2006 and it’s been my absolute privilege to play a key role in the fast expansion of DMG digital sector in the UK and Europe with the launches of the iMedia UK Summits, ad:tech Paris, ad:tech Hamburg and the significant growth of ad:tech London,” he said. “I wish James and the team the greatest success.”
