Managing director of William Reed Business Media, Charles Reed, is the new chairman of the Periodicals Publishers Association (PPA).
Reed said: “I am delighted and honoured to take over this prestigious position and I thank [previous chairman BBC Magazines’ MD Peter Phippen] for all his hard work in starting the revitalisation of the PPA, a mission I intend to carry forward with vigour.”
Reed welcomed Barry McIlheney as new PPA chief executive and announced the completion of restructuring.
“The requirements of our members have changed due to the economic downturn and the continuing high pace of technological development,” says Reed. “The new structure is designed to give Barry the best possible base from which to build.”
More than 200 publishing companies belong to the PPA, and collectively produce more than 2,500 consumer and business magazines and journals. Many are also involved, like William Reed, in organising related exhibitions.
