Bookings have risen by 37 per cent at Somerset House this summer, compared with the same period in 2016, with many of the venue’s spaces booked up to September.
The historic central London venue has benefited from a large increase in corporate bookings, which account for 90 per cent of this summer’s events.
The River Terrace, with a standing capacity of 500 and views over the River Thames and London skyline, has been the most popular choice, making up 64 per cent of all summer party bookings.
Guests are also opting for daytime summer parties in The Portico Rooms, which offer natural daylight and views of both the famous Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court and the River Thames from their two balconies. With a maximum capacity of 200 guests, The Portico Rooms are a popular daytime choice.
Jenny Freestone, head of corporate events for Somerset House Trust, commented: “We are fortunate to be able to offer a versatile range of spaces for summer events. Our events team have been focused on raising awareness among London businesses and this, coupled with our central location, has contributed to the rise in bookings.
“We are delighted that so many event organisers have decided to use Somerset House as the setting for their summer parties.”
