The Association of Event Organisers (AEO) has announced that AEO Forums 2018 will take place on 26 January at the Business Design Centre, BDC, in London.
The theme for the event next year will be ‘Tales of the Unexpected’, and the programme will be streamed to appeal to marketing, operations and sales professionals working in exhibitions.
Jenni Jaques, marketing director at AEO commented: “The Tales of the Unexpected theme is designed to reflect the current market that events professionals are operating in. Whether events are held in the UK or overseas, new trends, advances in technology, changes in regulations and trading conditions bring opportunities and uncertainty affecting how people working in the events industry do business.
“On a fundamental level that will appeal to all attendees, how we use technology socially is changing the way we communicate. In response to this, our Keynote, former hostage negotiator, Richard Mullender, will deliver an interactive session where delegates will learn how to reconnect on a more personal level. They will leave the Forums knowing exactly how to get key information quickly to influence decision making, save time and improve performance.”
The second session, on GDPR, will cover the new regulations on consent which are vital for anyone processing customer, employee or partner data. Jaques continued: “Understanding the opportunities and constraints that GDPR will bring is not just the responsibility of the marketing team, it’s a necessity of every function. It’s also important to understand what information and support customers will need.”
James Ormiston, managing director of headline sponsor Circdata, added: “Each year the AEO Forums empower marketing, operations and sales professionals at the forefront of the events industry and we look forward to supporting them in their efforts. 2018 will bring a number of challenges; especially with the onset of the GDPR regulation in May, but we will be on standby to offer free advice on all GDPR questions delegates may have. See you there!”
